Heritage Property Owners: Apply For Up To $5,000 For Renovations
Own a heritage property in need of some TLC?
You may be eligible to receive up to $5,000 in funds through the City’s new Heritage Property Grant program.
“Well-kept historic buildings are part of the old-world character of Kingston. This program is about helping heritage property-owners preserve their highly-valued heritage assets for their own enjoyment – and the enjoyment of all Kingstonians,” says Ryan Leary, senior heritage planner.
Owners of eligible properties may receive 50 per cent of the total cost of an eligible project to a maximum of $5,000 once every two years. Find the grant applications and more information HERE.
The deadline to submit an application is April 30.
Maximum funding amounts have been raised from $2,000 to $5,000 under the new program this year following a 2017 review.
Another program change: projects like replacing asphalt shingles or aluminum eaves troughs and cleaning masonry may now be eligible for up to $2,500.
Heritage property owners are reminded to get their heritage permit in advance of their building permit.
